Allow silencers for hunting?

The Fish and Game and Marine Resources committee is recommending that New Hampshire repeal the prohibition on hunting with a silencer.

The committee voted 7-5 to recommend passing the bill, HB 500

New Hampshire first passed a ban on hunting with a silencer in the 1940s, along with several other states. The federal government also heavily regulates the possession of silencers.

HB 500 states, "Hunting with sound suppressors will help to lessen the hearing damage many hunters suffer from" and "hunting with suppressors lessens the ambient noise heard by neighbors."

Silencer opponents argue that the noise of firearms makes hunting safer by alerting people nearby of the potential safety hazard.

Other opponents argue that silencers help poachers and other illegal hunters avoid detection.

The dereguation of silencer use with firearms in the State of NH will be a benifit to all voters. Sound regulations dictate the reduction of anoyingly high sound levels. With the use of silencers, many towns will be able to reduce the impact of loud sounds effecting residence tranquility. Hunters will benifit from reduction to hearing loss. A great benifit to all.

I personally do not think that any hunter needs to be using a silencer when hunting. I use to hunt many years ago with my Dad, never used such a thing. when you are hunting in the woods you want to know when someone has fired a gun shooting at Deer, wild Birds, etc, to know where someone might be and also to be more care. Silencers in my opinion have no good use when hunting. If people are afraid of the noise that are using them, then maybe they should not be hunting themselves, this is New Hampshire my State "Live Free or Die" No Silencer needed
