Do you think specialized court programs are effective?

New Hampshire's judicial branch provides alternative court programs for certain offenders, including a drug court, mental health court, and veterans court. These programs focus on one type of individual and offer compliance to a strict treatment program as an alternative to jail time.

Supporters of specialized courts argue that it's beneficial to have justice systems that are aware and sensitive to an individual's medical conditions or background, and can provide a path to treatment and recovery rather than to jail. They also help reduce recidivism.

On the other hand, opponents argue that a separate justice system is unfair and the current court system we have is good enough. In addition, taxpayer money would be better used toward preventative care and helping someone before they become an offender, not after.
