Federal funding slows, delaying roadway maintenance

News Date
Body
Federal transportation funding for maintenance of New Hampshire roadways has fallen by more than five percent in the years between 2008 and 2013. Additionally, the state's department of transportation spending has fallen by more than 16 percent over about the same period. As a result, regular maintenance to secondary roads and bridges has seen delays, leading to higher costs for reconstruction as roadways see greater degradation. New Hampshire rates more than a third of its roadways in "poor" condition.
