Gov. Maggie Hassan may have vetoed the state budget proposed by legislators in June, but she signed the capital budget bill that funds various construction projects around the state.

This year's capital budget includes funds for a new Merrimack County Courthouse, a 50-bed addition to the Veterans’ Home’s Life Enhancement Dementia Unit, the new women's prison under construction in Concord, and more.

"While we continue to work toward a compromised, balanced operating budget that protects our ability to support critical economic priorities now and into the future, this capital budget is an important step forward for our state, representing the progress that we can make when we work together," said Hassan.

House Speaker Shawn Jasper (R) has said that operating budget negotiations will resume in September or October. Gov. Hassan wanted to restart budget negotiations this summer, but waiting until the fall will allow legislators to see final accounting numbers for fiscal year 2015.
