Jeanne Shaheen to give official endorsement to Hillary Clinton

Shaheen announced she will officially endorse Hillary Clinton’s campaign for president at a “Women for Hillary” event in Portsmouth on Labor Day weekend. 

The endorsement was not seen as a surprise, as Shaheen also backed Clinton in her 2008 run for the Democratic nomination. 

Shaheen’s announcement is seen to come at a key point in Clinton’s campaign, when polls show Bernie Sanders pulling into the lead as a contender for the Democratic presidential nomination. 

Pundits noted that Gov. Maggie Hassan has not yet given a formal endorsement to the Clinton campaign, though Hassan also supported Clinton in 2008.
