This Wednesday, September 16 the New Hampshire House of Representatives will return to Concord to vote on overriding Governor Maggie Hassan's vetoes, including her veto of the budget bill.

Supporters of that budget argue that it increases funding for critical services, such as substance abuse treatment, without raising taxes. Gov. Hassan said that business tax cuts in the budget will create a budget deficit down the road.

Representatives are also drafting new legislation for the 2016 session. Here are some notable bill requests so far:

Rep. Thomas Sherman (D-Rye) has requested a bill to renew New Hampshire's expanded Medicaid program, which uses some private insurance.

Rep. James Spillane (R-Deerfield) has requested a bill related to carrying a pistol or revolver without a license.

Rep. Susan Ford (D-Easton) has requested a bill to repeal the program that gives businesses a tax credit for donating to private and home school scholarships.
