Tuesday, March 8 marks the fifth special election for state representative in this legislative biennium.

Democrat Michael Edgar, Republican Kenneth Sheffert, and Independent Philip Bean are all on the ballot to represent Hampton.

Meanwhile, two New Hampshire representatives may be removed from their positions.

First, Rep. Kyle Tasker is expected to resign this week after his arrest for attempting to lure a minor through Facebook. Tasker also faces several drug charges.

House Speaker Shawn Jasper is also seeking to remove Rep. Don Leeman because he no longer lives in his district. Leeman moved to a new district after a bedbug infestation at his residence. Leeman says the move is only temporary.

This far in the legislative session, the state might not hold special elections to fill vacant seats. Tasker represents Candia, Deerfield, and Nottingham along with Rep. Joe Duarte and Rep. James Spillane. Leeman is a floterial representative from Rochester, which has several other representatives.

The results of the special election and removals will have no impact on the Republican majority in the House.
