Governor Sununu works on the budget proposal

On Thursday, February 9 Gov. Chris Sununu presented his budget proposal to the New Hampshire Legislature. His plan increases spending by about 2% and does not increase any taxes or fees.

On Monday, March 6 the House Finance committee held state budget hearings in Derry and Plymouth.  The next public hearing on the budget will be Monday, March 13 at the Statehouse in Concord.

Alcohol fund provides money for addiction treatment

Last week the House Finance committee voted to repeal the Alcohol Fund and instead appropriate money for addiction treatment from the General Fund of all tax revenues.

The Alcohol Fund, established in 2000, sets aside up to 5% of liquor tax revenue for addiction treatment and prevention.

Last week the Senate Finance Committee voted to increase the percentage of liquor sales that go to the alcohol fund for addiction treatment and prevention.
