Rep. Keith Murphy of Bedford has proposed a bill that would disallow Medicaid payment for circumcisions, NHPR reported on December 26. If passed, the bill would add New Hampshire to a list of eighteen states who currently do not offer Medicaid reimbursement for the procedure, including Maine, California, Washington and Florida.

A 2015 report card gives New Hampshire the only 'A' in the nation for health care cost transparency.

The report, developed by the Catalyst for Payment Reform and Health Care Incentives Institute, graded New Hampshire on the state website NHHealthCost.org. That site uses claims data from insurance companies to let consumers compare health care providers' prices for various procedures.

In July Gov. Maggie Hassan (D) signed a bill that states insurers cannot require higher payments for oral anti-cancer pills than for intravenous chemotherapy.

Oral chemotherapy pills typically fall under a patient’s pharmacy benefit, and they can cost much more than the co-pay for an outpatient chemotherapy appointment.
