The two-year budget proposal that Gov. Maggie Hassan presented to New Hamsphire law makers on Feb. 12 did not contain any revenue from casino gambling. Instead, it proposed $26 million over two years through keno gambling.

Gov. Maggie Hassan’s proposed two-year budget does not contain revenue from a casino as it did two years ago. Instead, she proposed $26 million from the legalization of keno, an online form of playing a lottery type game.

But Hassan this week indicated her continued support for legalized casino gambling in the Granite State.

The Senate Ways and Means Committee voted 4-1 against authorizing Keno this week.

Keno is a lottery game offered in bars and some other establishments that serve alcohol.  A player selects numbers on a slip, and a computer generates random numbers every four minutes.  The player gets a payout for matching numbers from the computer and the slip.

Once again, the New Hampshire Legislature is considering legalizing keno, a lottery game popular in restaurants and bars in neighboring states. The game allows players to bet on batches of computer-generated numbers every four minutes.
