The Commerce and Consumer Affairs Committee is recommending a 2016 bill that increases protections for breastfeeding mothers in the workplace.

Federal law already requires most employers to provide mothers with a private room and break time for expressing breast milk.

On Monday, January 11 the U.S. Supreme Court will hear a case that could essentially force New Hampshire to adopt a “Right to Work” policy, which lets public employees opt out of union dues.

A bill currently being considered by the House Finance Committee, HB 1670, would institute a one-time reward for public employees who make successful cost-savings or revenue-producing suggestions. The award would amount to 10% of the savings achieved during the first year the employee's suggestion is implemented, with a $5,000 maximum.
